Project Overview
Developed at USC School of Cinematic Arts’s Mobile & Environmental Media Lab, Immersive Archive explores the evolution of XR technologies through spatial simulations of historic VR and AR devices. Aimed at restoring and reimagining seminal immersive experiences, this project offers interactive first-person environments that contextualize each device within its original era. Immersive Archive was showcased at SIGGRAPH 2023 and honored with the “Best in Show” award at AWE 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Scanned photogrammetry of the Sensorama and Ivan Sutherland’s head-mounted display

  • Modeled Ivan Sutherland’s lab space, NASA lab space, and assets for VR use in Maya

  • Prototyped architectural design of the archive using Rhino

  • Contributed spatial layouts and speculative reconstructions based on historical research

  • Collaborated closely with the team on research and design implementation.
